It feels like winter is approaching with light rain in the forcast.
But for now we have calm winds and light seas.
And the Pacific Halibut are biting! At least 6 fish have been caught this last week averaging 60 lbs. This with very few boats out fishing.
Word is that October is usually a good month for Pacific Halibut.
It also looks like the Ling cod are starting to come in. The bite is getting good with many larger females being caught.
I’m looking forward to November, as the Dungenes crab season opens.
Also, this year may be the first time that CA Fish and Wildlife will allow unlimited depth sport fishing in our area. This will be for the last two months of the season, November and December.
I hope to try for Sable fish in the canyon with my new electric reel. We got 1500 ft. depth just 5 miles away from port! Red-banded rockfish are also a posibility.
