Dungeness Crab season opened last weekend with a local wimper. Daytime soaks resulted in very few crab from a variety of locations and depths.
However, the next day overnite soaks had crab, but it was still slow. only a few pots had big numbers, with most having at least some crab.
It has been hit and miss since then, but at least the crab are hard, full and big.
The fishing has been great, as the ling cod are biting.
Sport anglers are able to fish for rockfish at any depth for this November and December. This has allowed anglers to explore new treitory and come home with a variety they rarely see.
The weather conditions have made for calm flat seas for the last two weeks, and it looks like the calmness will remain for at least another week.
Remember, Pacific Halibut and Salmon seasons are now closed.
